Prof Dr Siti Balkis Budin

Dr Siti Balkis Budin is a professor of Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and presently appointed as the Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) for the faculty. Dr Siti graduated as a medical doctor from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1991 before obtaining her Master degree and PhD from University of Ulster (UK) in 1996 and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2006, respectively. With more than 20 years of teaching experience in pathophysiology, chemical pathology and cell pathology, Dr Siti is also an expert in Pathology-Toxicology whereby her research interest mainly centres on diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, reproductive toxicology, natural products as well as free radical and antioxidant study. Research and writing have always been her passion as evident in numerous articles being published in academic journals on her research findings and had managed and guided a lot of postgraduate students. Her previous research projects cover the effect of palm oil-derived vitamin E on diabetic cardiovascular dysfunction as well as its preventive effect on pesticide toxicity in animal study. At present, Dr Siti mainly focuses her interest on the protective effect of Roselle on myocardium infarction and diabetic cardiomyopathy.
